“I’m intimidated by the fear of being average”

“I’m intimidated by the fear of being average.”
Taylor Swift’s quote resonates with me.
Taylor Swift is 34, and not just a pop sensation but a global powerhouse, shattering records on Spotify and Apple Music, and earning her the title of TIME’s Person of the year. Her Eras tour alone, inject a staggering $5.7 billion into the US economy.
So what is the Strategy Learning from this?
In an era where music production and distribution have been democratized, Swift’s continuous reinvention and direct connection with fans stand out as masterclasses in strategy and resilience.
Swift’s strategic maneuvers—fostering emotional connections online, taking control of her music rights, and constantly reinventing her sound and image—are lessons in excellence for both the music industry and also beyond.
So in an era of AI, of disruptions and new playing fields, I am now thinking – how can I, and my companies, avoid being average and keep reinventing ourselves?
And how can it be led from the Boardroom?
We will run a webinar and peer exchange, open for participants with a board mandate, on the topic of Generative AI and Boards. We will discuss dilemmas related to Generative AI and impact on business and business models,
What are the boards guidance and supervision and how will that evolve and Perspectives on Leadership and workforce transformation with trailblazers, non-average, Bente Sollid Storehaug and Mats Agervi.
And maybe, just maybe, we will discuss Taylor Swift.
